A group of Berwickshire High School pupils recently reached the final of a UK-wide reading competition.
Four students - Willow Abbott, Tess Crilly, Darcy Martin and Amelia Lake - placed in the top 20 in the National Reading Champions Quiz.
Congratulations to these pupils on their incredible effort to reach the final of a UK wide competition, which started out with 400 teams.
On behalf of Borders residents, I am very proud of what they achieved. They did very well and deserve a lot of praise.
It was a pleasure to show this enthusiastic group of young people around the UK Parliament buildings and answer their keen questions.
The quiz, which is run by the National Literacy Trust, saw over 400 UK teams compete over 20 heats.
The Berwickshire High pupils qualified for the final where they put in a strong performance.
I was delighted to meet them afterwards for a tour of the Houses of Parliament, including the House of Commons, Westminster Hall and a terrace overlooking the River Thames.
