I had a fantastic time playing rounders and learning all about the incredible work that Escape Youth Services do. I don't know who had more fun, me or the youngsters!
I was very impressed by their services. The roughly 60 young people who attended all seemed to be having a great time socialising, having fun, and learning too.
Escape is a drop-in facility for young people in Hawick and the surrounding area that provides a safe and fun environment for young people to meet, creating opportunities and supporting development.
They offer a wide variety of activities including creative media, games, sports, music, arts, baking and cooking, interest groups, issue-based sessions, excursions and residentials. The project has been running successfully for 15 years.
Escape provides drop-in sessions to give young people a safe place to engage in activities that help build life-skills through baking, team leading, creative tasks and learning new skills.
They also provide holiday programmes in April, over the summer and October.
I would encourage anyone with a young family to get involved as it is very affordable at just 50p per session.
