I have joined a national parliamentary campaign aimed at keeping bank branches open across the country.
The ‘Save Our Banks’ campaign has been launched by Derbyshire Dales representative, Sarah Dines MP.
In a letter to launch the campaign, Ms Dines said some communities had “effectively been debanked” and closures have “far-reaching consequences, impacting vulnerable individuals, farmers, small businesses and the elderly to name a few who rely on these services.’”
Big banks have treated loyal customers in the Borders disgracefully by closing branches and leaving people without easy access to cash services.
I am pleased to join this national campaign to raise awareness of this critical issue and find a constructive solution that protects local bank services.
Residents across the Borders, especially older and vulnerable people, need reliable access to cash services in their own community.
