Influential travel company, Skyscanner, has named St Abbs as one of the best destinations in Scotland to visit. The list was compiled to highlight staycations as COVID-19 continues to make international travel difficult.
The Berwickshire village is named alongside Stirling, Ullapool, Loch Lomond, Dundee and the Isle of Harris as one of the must-see destinations.
The article makes reference to the village making an appearance as ‘New Arsgard’ in the highest grossing film of all time, Avengers: Endgame. It also highlights the wildlife and scuba diving opportunities at St Abbs Head National Nature Reserve, as well as the Widows & Bairns statue which pays tribute to fishermen who lost their lives at sea.
Skyscanner is a Scottish based company that allows users to find cheap flights and hotel deals and is used by over 100 million people across the world every month.
Borders MP John Lamont said: “The Berwickshire coastline is a beautiful part of the world, and it is no wonder it has made it onto this must visit list.
“Articles like this really highlight the great sights that our area has to offer. As international travel is much more difficult, I hope that the Borders can capitalise in the rising number of domestic tourists.
“I hope that they will get to see the beauty of the area and come back again and again. Berwickshire has so much to offer from walking on our hills, diving on our coast, or experiencing our great hospitality.”
