Over the last month, on doorsteps and on streets across the Borders, people have raised one issue with me far more than any other.
The new UK Labour government's decision to cut the winter fuel payment - a cut which the SNP will pass on to Scottish pensioners - has deeply disappointed local residents.
I've received a lot of feedback from constituents who are concerned about the impact not only on themselves, but many who are worried about the consequences for elderly family members.
Over 21,000 pensioners in the Borders will miss out because of the decision by Labour and the SNP to cut the winter fuel payment.
Hundreds of thousands more will suffer across Scotland - and millions across the whole United Kingdom.
Each pensioner who no longer gets the payment will lose out on hundreds of pounds.
It is a truly shameful decision from the new Labour government, which has even provoked the anger of trade unions.
During the recent Labour party conference, the head of the GMB union, Gary Smith, said the decision was "hurting a lot of our pensioners on low incomes."
The whole sorry scandal has been made far worse by the revelations that Labour politicians, who already earn enormous salaries far above average earnings, have been accepting high-end luxury and designer clothing as gifts.
It looks like hypocrisy and it has really bothered people across the Borders who quite rightly wonder why the Prime Minister Keir Starmer is happy to accept expensive clothes worth thousands of pounds while he removes a vital payment from pensioners who really need the hundreds of pounds it provides to heat their homes this winter.
My party has started a petition calling for the cut to the winter fuel payment to be stopped. If you have been affected by this decision, or if you are equally as annoyed by it as most people across the Borders are, then you can sign the petition at the following website link: www.whatlaboursaid.com/winter-fuel-payment.
This petition will be presented to Rachel Reeves, the Chancellor of the Labour government.
So hopefully, if enough people sign this petition, there may be a chance to force the Labour government to change course and restore the winter fuel payment for Borders, Scottish and British pensioners.
I will keep campaigning to make that happen and please do get in touch with me if you are as concerned as I am by this issue.
