Like the majority of people in the Scottish Borders I voted to remain in the EU in the 2016 Referendum.
However, it was a UK wide vote carried out under the promise that whatever people decided would be implemented.
In a democracy, just because we do not like a result does not mean that it should not be respected or followed.
Most people I speak to in the Borders are democrats and accept the result of the referendum.
The vast majority of correspondence I receive are from people who are tired of the endless debate and just want Brexit delivered in a reasonable way.
I strongly oppose revoking Article 50 and trying to reverse the referendum result.
I understand that some of my constituents want me to do that, however in 2017, the majority of the Borders elected me as their MP on a manifesto commitment to deliver Brexit and that is what I intend to do.
To try to turn back the result of the referendum just because it has proven difficult to implement would be deeply damaging to democracy in our country.
I want to avoid a No Deal Brexit and I want Brexit delivered - That is why I voted for the Withdrawal Agreement last week and is why I will vote for it again.
