Tattered flags at Carter Bar are to be replaced after complaints from Border residents.
Both Transport Scotland and Northumberland County Council have confirmed that new flags will be put in place.
A concerned local wrote to Borders MP, John Lamont, to see what could be done to improve the look of the border as the flags were in a state of disrepair.
The Chief Executive of Transport Scotland confirmed that the flags they are responsible for were replaced on 20th January 2021.
Northumberland County Council said that new flags are to be delivered this week, and will be installed as soon as weather conditions allow.
The border on the A68 is also marked by boundary stones.
John Lamont MP said:
“I am very grateful to the authorities who have acted quickly to replace the flags that were in sad state.
“They will be fully replaced as soon as weather conditions allow.
“I hope that when tourism is able to resume in the future, Carter Bar will remain an important stop for sightseers.”
