The Department for International Trade, alongside Scottish Development International, are holding a series of events in the Scottish Borders, in cooperation with MP, John Lamont.
Part of the Parliamentary Export Programme, Mr Lamont is leading a drive to bring free government support to more local firms to help them take advantage of export opportunities.
The Borders MP is a founding member of the Parliamentary Export Programme where selected cross-party MPs organise and chair virtual meetings with government trade experts and local businesses to encourage exporting.
The first meeting for businesses within Berwickshire, Roxburgh & Selkirk will take place on the 9th March at 3pm.
The webinar will include updates from HMRC and DIT on trading and opportunities after Brexit. Panellists will include a local experienced exporter, an International Trade Adviser and Export Finance expert.
The sessions are relevant to all businesses, whether they have never exported before, exported in the past or are a current exporter.
Local businesses looking to take advantage of exporting opportunities can sign up here: https://www.events.great.gov.uk/parliamentary-export-programme
John Lamont MP said:
“Exporting drives growth in businesses and ultimately provides more jobs and boosts our local economy.
“That is why I wanted to be one of the first to hold this event alongside the Department for International Trade.
“Helping the local economy to recover from the pandemic and protect jobs is one of my top priorities at the moment.
“This event will give attendees access to information, advice and finance and is useful to businesses looking to export, or already are exporting.
“I want to see plenty of Borders businesses signing up and you can do so at https://www.events.great.gov.uk/parliamentary-export-programme"
