Scotland has benefited from an additional £14.5 billion of UK Government funding since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This funding has enabled the Scottish Government to provide support for individuals, businesses and public services here in the Borders and across Scotland.
In Scotland, the UK Government has protected 900,000 jobs through the furlough scheme and provided £294 million to businesses through the Self Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS).
Thanks to the UK Government, funding will continue during 2021-22 in order to support our recovery.
John Lamont MP said:
“The UK Government has protected large numbers of jobs here in the Borders and across Scotland.
“I’m pleased that the UK Government is delivering for individuals, their families and their businesses across the Borders and will continue to do so as we build back from the pandemic.
“The UK Government has demonstrated its commitment to strengthening the Union and ensuring that Scotland has the funding it needs to get through the pandemic, with £14.5 billion of additional spending over the last year.”
