New statistics have revealed that someone in the Borders has waited more than 10 years to be placed into social housing.
The newly published figures also showed that the average waiting time to be placed into social housing is more than a year.
Both numbers were disclosed in a Freedom of Information response from Eildon Housing to the Scottish Conservatives.
It showed that the average waiting time is 384 days and the longest current wait is 3854 days.
These shocking figures show that waiting times for social housing in the Borders are far too long.
People in the Borders are suffering the consequence of an SNP Government that prioritises investment in big cities over places like the Borders.
Nobody should be waiting years to be placed into social housing. That is totally unacceptable.
