Over 1000 people waited more than four hours for emergency treatment in the Borders in August, according to new statistics.
The latest Public Health Scotland figures show at the Borders General Hospital during August, 1025 people waited more than four hours, 384 people waited more than eight hours, and 224 people waited more than 12 hours.
Just 62.3 per cent of people who attended A&E in the Borders were seen within four hours, which is the target treatment time.
That was down from 66.9 per cent at the Borders General Hospital the previous month.
Performance in the Borders is also lower than the Scottish national average of 70.6 per cent.
These new figures are very concerning and should raise alarm bells for the SNP Government.
The number of people waiting for many hours for emergency treatment is growing rapidly.
Humza Yousaf must give our excellent NHS staff the resources they need to treat every patient quickly.
