I have launched a campaign to ensure the correct speed limits are displayed on Google Maps and satellite navigation systems.
I have raised concerns about the incorrect speed limits being displayed to drivers using some digital platforms. This can cause confusion for drivers who are not familiar with the speed limits in the Borders.
I have written to Google Maps about the issue and spoken with the Scottish Borders Council.
This problem must be fixed so drivers know the proper speed limit to follow and Borders residents are kept as safe as possible.
Incorrect speed limits on sat nav systems could lead to motorists accidentally driving too quickly, especially if they are tourists or unfamiliar with local roads.
Everyone should follow the speed limit signs at the side of the road at all times but some people may be confused if digital devices or platforms show a different speed limit.
I will be seeking to ensure the correct speed limits are shown at all times.
