The People’s Postcode Lottery and John Lamont MP held a virtual funding workshop for good causes in the Borders this week.
Over 20 charities and local organisations from across the Borders took part in the event which aimed to help them find funding for their projects and services.
Mr Lamont provided an opening speech and welcomed everyone to the event, before the People’s Postcode Lottery gave a presentation and answered questions.
After the meeting, John Lamont MP said:
“I found this to be a really useful source of information. I hope it was for the organisations that attended too.
“The People’s Postcode Lottery have already given over £160,000 to good causes in our area. I wanted to provide this opportunity for more good causes in the Borders to make use of these funding opportunities.
“The UK Government recently made it easier for lotteries like People’s Postcode Lottery to operate and this means more money can be given out to projects that improve the lives of local residents here in the Borders.”
Malcolm Fleming, spokesperson for People’s Postcode Lottery, commented:
“People’s Postcode Lottery were delighted by the turnout of local charities at the Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk workshop we hosted in conjunction with John Lamont MP.
“We hope that the good causes that attended found the session useful, and encourage any other organisations who did not make the event to check out the People’s Postcode Trust website for details of how to apply for funding. This year the funding rounds are open event month until October, so there are plenty of opportunities to get applications in and to secure funding.
“Charities and community groups who have any questions about the application process can also contact our community grants team for help and advice.”
