Borders MP, John Lamont, received his Covid-19 vaccine on Saturday, the same day as the UK recorded its second highest ever daily total.
Mr Lamont attended Borders Event centre in Kelso to receive his first dose. He was given the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine.
Sixty million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have now been delivered across the UK, with over twenty two million people now fully vaccinated.
After his vaccine, John Lamont MP, said:
“I am really grateful for all the work that has been put into getting the vaccine rollout to this point.
“From the scientists and volunteers who made the vaccine a reality, to the NHS staff administering them, and the Armed Forces who have helped with logistics and running of vaccination centres.
“I would encourage anyone who has not yet been jabbed to roll up their sleeve, get vaccinated, and help protect yourself and your community from Covid-19.
“I am looking forward to being called again in a number of weeks to come for my second dose. It is vital that people show up for both appointments to ensure the best protection.
“Doing so will help us to defeat the virus and get our economy and public services back up to full speed.”
