I have been troubled by reports from local residents about the excessive and potentially even reckless speeds of some vehicles on the A68 south of Jedburgh.
There is an urgent need for new signs to be installed to promote safe speeds, and I believe there is a strong case for restrictions to try and reduce the likelihood of an accident.
Those interventions are necessary to reduce the risk and limit the speed of vehicles to a reasonable level.
Residents say there was once a speed camera in the area and that one should be installed again.
I have raised this with Police Scotland, Transport Scotland and the Scottish Government, and will continue to monitor the situation closely until road safety is improved."
